What is the active ingredient in Children's Pepto Antacid? The active ingredient in Children's Pepto Antacid is an antacid called calcium carbonate. There are 400 mg of calcium carbonate in each Children's Pepto Antacid chewable tablet. Is this the same active ingredient that is in Pepto-Bismol? Children's Pepto Antacid contains the active ingredient calcium carbonate, which is different than the active ingredient in Pepto-Bismol. The active ingredient in Pepto-Bismol is bismuth subsalicylate, and it is not for use in children under 12 years of age. Does Children's Pepto Antacid contain salicylates?
